Small Boats… Big Action is a big adventure trip on the Snake River. With 8 passengers in a small white water rafting boat, you will really feel the whitewater rapids. All participants should be able to paddle on this trip. Your guide will rely on the passengers to power the raft so everyone should be physically fit and ready for a challenge. On a small whitewater rafting boat, you can expect to get wet, no matter where you sit in the raft.
Roam the Antelope Flats in search of bison, elk, moose, bald eagles, coyotes, antelope, and more! Let you guide take you back in time as they share what early life in Jackson Hole may have been like. Stop for dinner on the deck at Signal Mountain Lodge while enjoying spectacular views of the Teton Mountain Range. Following dinner, head back to Jackson along the wooded Moose-Wilson road, home to the North American Moose and other wildlife.

CHECK-IN & TRANSPORTATION: This whitewater rafting trip requires check-in 30 minutes prior to launch time. The standard check-in location is at the Mad River office located at 1255 S HWY 89, just 2 miles south of town. Transportation from the Mad River boathouse to the river and back is provided on every Mad River trip. Complimentary pick up is available at most Jackson and Teton Village locations upon request. Your wildlife tour will depart from Mad River following your river trip unless otherwise requested. You will be returned to Mad River following your wildlife tour.
RAFT TRIP DETAILS:
This trip launches from West Table Boat Ramp in the Snake River Canyon and winds its way south toward Alpine, WY. You'll travel 8 river miles from start to finish. There are about 8 sets of rapids, ranging from class I and II to class III. Various river features will be encountered, such as Lunch counter and Big Kahuna rapids, Million Dollar Fishing Hole, Gauging Straights and Bailing Straights. Your whitewater rafting guide will share information on the history of the area as well as teach you about the local flora and fauna.
The Snake River Canyon is rich in geological history and your whitewater rafting guide will point out some of the features that make this canyon unique. You might see river otters, osprey and bald eagles on your trip. The lucky few might even catch a glimpse of a mountain goat, a mule deer, an elk or even a grizzly or black bear.
BOAT TYPE: This trip features our small white water raft. This raft is an AIRE inflatable, self-bailing, 15'6" raft. This is an 8 man raft. There are 6 paddling positions and 2 non-paddling positions in this raft.

The Snake River begins its journey in the rugged backcountry of Yellowstone National Park and gathers water as it heads south toward Jackson Hole through Grand Teton National Park. The river exits the south end of Jackson Hole through the winding Snake River Canyon, lined with trees and steep granite walls, small alpine meadows and abundant wildlife. It’s on this section of the Snake that you’ll experience some of the wildest whitewater in the Rocky Mountains.
