The 13-Mile Scenic with Deli Box Lunch

Enjoy a peaceful float down the Snake River with us. Not to worry - your guide does all the work. Simply relax and take in the beautiful scenery and wildlife views all around you. The Grand Tetons are the backdrop for your departure, so cameras and binoculars are welcome on all trips.
TOTAL TRIP TIME: 3 hours - door to door

MENU: This trip has a meal served on the boats as you make your way down the Snake River. The 8:30 am trip includes a hot breakfast sandwich, bagels, fruit, and hot and cold beverages. The 12:30pm or 4:30pm trips include a Quiznos sub, an apple, bag of chips, dessert and a beverage. Vegetarian needs may be accommodated with advance notice.
BOAT TYPE: This trip features our mid-sized AIRE inflatable, self-bailing, 15'6" raft. It seats 10 people but we average 6 to 8 guests per boat. All positions in this raft are non-paddling positions. Just relax and take in the beauty of Jackson Hole.
CHECK-IN & TRANSPORTATION: This trip requires check-in 30 minutes prior to launch time. The check-in location is at Mad River located at 1255 S HWY 89, just 2 miles south of town. Transportation from the Mad River Boat House to the river and back is provided on every Mad River trip. Complimentary pick up is available at most Jackson and Teton Village locations.
RAFT TRIP DETAILS: The magnificent Teton Range sets the stage for our 13 mile Scenic Float trips. This trip starts west of the town of Jackson and winds its way south through braided river channels and sand bars. This 13-mile stretch is home to an array of natural wonders unlike anywhere else on earth and the opportunity to view them all in one place is extremely rare. This trip comes with a free lunch served on the river.
This trip launches from the Wilson Bridge Boat Ramp. Our experienced and knowledgeable guides will navigate you through this pristine landscape, sharing the history, geology, and wildlife of the region. Due to calm waters, cameras and binoculars are generally fine for this stretch of river. You may see beaver, cutthroat trout, cliff swallows, osprey and bald eagles on your trip. A lucky few may even catch a glimpse of a mule deer, moose, elk or even a grizzly or black bear.
We'll pause along the way and enjoy breakfast or lunch (depending on the time of day), before finishing out the scenic section and returning to the Mad River Boat House in the town of Jackson.

MENU: Breakfast is served on the river during this trip. The menu includes a hot breakfast sandwich, bagels, fruit, and hot and cold beverages. There will also be a snack served at the Mad River Boat House prior to departure for the whitewater portion of your trip. The snack will include a piece of fruit, bag of chips and a beverage.
BOAT TYPE: This trip features two different rafts. For the scenic portion of your trip, the raft is an AIRE inflatable, self-bailing, 15'6" raft. It seats 10 people but we average 6 to 8 guests per boat. All positions in this raft are non-paddling positions. You can just relax and take in the scenery all around you. Cameras and binoculars are generally fine for this stretch of river.
For the whitewater portion of your trip, the raft is an AIRE inflatable, self-bailing, 18'3" raft. It seats 16 people but we average 10 to 12 guests per boat. There are non-paddling and paddling positions in this raft. After high season, when the water drops, we change out our standard rafts for the smaller boats to give you a better ride through the whitewater. Same price either way - such a deal!

This 13-mile scenic stretch is home to an array of natural wonders unlike anywhere else on earth and the opportunity to view them all in one place is extremely rare. The final leg of your trip takes you through the famous Snake River Canyon, known for the dramatic scenery and wild whitewater. River running on the Snake River dates back to the 1800's and your guide will share the history as well as the geology and ecology that make the Snake River unique. Breakfast and a snack are included in this trip.
Launching from the Wilson Bridge Boat Ramp, you'll travel 13 miles south. You'll pause and enjoy a hot breakfast sandwich for brunch before finishing out the scenic section and returning to our boat house. A break back at the Mad River Boathouse lets you change into your whitewater apparel and put away binoculars and cameras not suited for your whitewater adventure.
You'll grab a snack before heading south where the second part of the trip launches from West Table Boat Ramp in the Snake River Canyon and winds its way south toward Alpine, WY. You'll travel another 8 river miles where there are about 8 sets of rapids, ranging from class I and II to class III. Various river features will be encountered, such as Million Dollar Fishing Hole, Gauging Straights and Bailing Straights.
You might see river otters, osprey and bald eagles on your trip. A lucky few may even catch a glimpse of a mountain goat, a mule deer, an elk or even a grizzly or black bear.

In the middle of this section, just after the gauging straights, you'll pause at Mad River's exclusive riverside camp at Blind Canyon, overlooking the two largest rapids in the canyon for a unique dining experience. Here your guide becomes your server as you enjoy dinner. At the end of your meal, you'll hit the water once again to finish out your whitewater experience with the biggest whitewater rapids in the canyon.
The Snake River Canyon is rich in geological history and your guide will point out some of the features along the way that make this canyon unique. You may see river otters, osprey and bald eagles on your trip. And a lucky few might even catch a glimpse of a mountain goat, a mule deer, an elk or even a grizzly or black bear.
